Gosh, I haven't had the chance to throughly enjoy a book since ages. The same sensation of suspense, impatience and eagerness to paw through the whole book to the last page.
The Alibi by Sandra Brown is exhilarating. For a while there, I was lost 'coz the book has so many characters, so many plots going on at the same time, each crafted out remarkably and yet, unpredictably.
As all English novels do, this novel begins with a romance. Hammond Cross is the typical main character, a solicitor in a dilemma of prosecuting the lady he loves and upholding his responsibilities when incriminating evidence turns up against Dr. Alex Ladd as a murderess. It's like, your mind goes whirring along with the characters in the novel, eager to solve the crime before the character himself does. It is simply thrilling. Then Steffi Mundell has to get in the way. This crude, crass woman with no sense of self love determined to snatch the top solicitor's seat from ex-lover Hammond using undespicable and underhanded methods. Like she is not totally trying to get back at Hammond for dumping her. Rolls eyes. Then the plot gets thicker as Bobby Trimble, big-time criminal, Rory Smilow, homicide detective and Davee Pettijohn(the bitch) come into the picture. Now I am almost at the end of the story, hovering at the brink of discovering the answers to this cold-blooded murder 'coz of PW. Happy ending, no doubt. It's just how this happy ending comes about.
Off to my book now!
